Spend a Summer Day (or Evening!) at Penn State Behrend

High school students and their families are invited to spend a summer day—or evening—at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College.

The college will host its annual Spend a Summer Evening admissions program from 4 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 31, and its Spend a Summer Day program the following morning, Friday, August 1, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Both events are intended to be relaxed yet informative opportunities to learn about the college. Each program will include an Information Fair covering residence life and student activities and opportunities, presentations on admissions, financial aid and the college’s four academic schools, and a student-led walking tour of campus. There is no cost to participate, and a picnic meal will be served.

Can’t make those dates? Individual appointments with admissions counselors, financial aid representatives, faculty, and athletic coaches can be made Mondays through Fridays throughout the summer.

Reservations are requested for the admissions events and required for individual appointments. They can be made by calling the Penn State Behrend Office of Admissions and Financial Aid at 814-898-6100 (toll-free 866-374-3378), or online.

Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, is a comprehensive residential college offering 33 baccalaureate, six associate, four pre-professional and two graduate degree programs with 22 minors to more than 4,000 students. Focused on providing a student-centered environment, Penn State Behrend is the link that connects its students to a major research and land-grant institution on a campus enriched by more than 110 clubs and organizations, 21 NCAA varsity teams, 19 intramural sports and modern facilities.

Penn State Behrend is named as such due to a donation by Mary Behrend, widow of Ernst Behrend, who founded the Hammermill Paper Co. in Erie in 1898. The Behrend family lived on the 400-acre Glenhill Farm, which is the core of the Penn State Behrend campus today.
