Penn State Behrend Track & Field Heads to ECACs with 15 Qualifiers

This past weekend, the Penn State Behrend Lions men's and women's track & field teams traveled to Allegheny College for their final regular season competition of the 2008 outdoor season. Top performers on the men's side included Mike Ferraro (Erie/Harborcreek) who finished second in the 100m dash with a time of 11.29 while teammate Doug Stevenson (Sharpsville/Sharpsville) finished fourth in the event in 11.38.  Tyler Johson (Niskayuna, NY/Colonie Central) finished the 200m dash in 22.49, giving him second place. 

For the women, Virginia Rodgers-Owens (Washington, DC/P.L. Dunbar) and Dana Turley (Sarver/Freeport) stood out with their performances.  Rodgers-Owens took a sixth place finish in the 100m dash, crossing the line in 12.83.  In the 110m hurdles, Turley had a strong finish with a time of 17.17.

The Behrend Lions will head to Springfield, Massachusetts to compete in the 2008 ECAC Championships on Thursday, May 15 through Friday, May 16.  The blue and white take 15 talented athletes to the competition, all with aspirations of making the National Championships.
