Penn State Behrend's Fairchild Earns Faculty Athletics Award; Named to All-Academic Team Along with Brozewicz

Penn State Behrend senior Dustin Fairchild (Corry/Corry) was recently named as the AMCC Faculty Athletics Award winner, and was chosen from among 20 other members of the AMCC All-Academic Team.

A two-time AMCC Swimmer of the Year and three-year team captain, Fairchild excelled academically as an electrical engineering major with a a 3.9 GPA and was the Behrend Lions Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year.  In the pool Fairchild leaves Behrend with seven individual records, and was also a member of four record-setting relay teams.  He finished his collegiate career as a 12-time AMCC champion.

Swimming head coach Jen Wallace said, "Dustin is a unique student-athlete.  His drive and competitive nature were at times masked by his quiet demeanor, but he never failed to come through when it counted.  Dustin's athletic abilities made him a weapon in a number of events.  He would lay everything on the line to get his hand on the wall first.  The drive Dustin displayed in the water was only eclipsed by his drive in the classroom.  His contributions to our team in and out of the water will be missed and will not be surpassed for years to come."

Lisa Brozewicz (Wattsburg/Seneca) also made the AMCC All-Academic Team.  Brozewicz was a standout on the women's cross country team that captured the AMCC Championship this past fall.  She earned All-Conference honors as a senior and excelled in the classroom as well, carrying a superb 3.98 GPA as a finance major.

Cross country head coach Greg Cooper said, "Lisa is a tremendous student-athlete.  She consistently performed well out on the course, while putting in the work to maintain an outstanding GPA."

One male and one female student-athlete from each of the AMCCs ten member schools are selected to the team each year.
