SCHOOL OF SCIENCE
Your degree in Computer Science will open doors in new and emerging careers such as application and system programming, systems analysis, multimedia and Web content, system administration, bioinformatics, visualization, network administration, and modeling, and academia. Demand for computer scientists is high; the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that available jobs will increase 36 percent or more over the next decade. In a 2001 National Association of Colleges and Employers survey, the median entry-level salary for a new graduate with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science was $52,723; for a new graduate of a master's degree program the beginning salary jumped to $61,453. Students who plan to join the workforce immediately upon graduation are urged to arrange a computer science internship during their third or fourth year of study. |
